Ghosts of Gone Birds, opening at the Rochelle School in Shoreditch, is a new exhibition dedicated to breathing artistic life back into the many bird species that have been lost.  The show which aims to highlight issues of bird extinction and conservation, features over 100 well-known artists, writers and musicians, all of who have been invited to choose from a long list of extinct birds, and represent them through their chosen media.

The project started with documentary maker Ceri Levy’s film ‘The Bird Effect‘, and involves many great names including Peter Blake, Ralph Steadman, Charming Baker, and the author  Margaret Atwood, and aims to raise money and awareness for BirdLife International’s Preventing Extinctions programme.

There will be live printing with Jealous Gallery, talks, readings and performances, including a Ghosts Night Out of music and poetry.  You can see a full list of ‘the creative army’, and read more here.

The exhibition runs from  November 2nd – 23rd, at the Rochelle School, Arnold Circus, Shoreditch, London E2 7ES.
