Last night saw the launch of Fathoms Deep at The Hayward Gallery, a new exhibition and shop curated by Zombie Collective. The show which runs until 3rd June in the gallery’s ‘This Is Not A Pop-up’ space, makes the most of it’s riverside location by taking over the space with a ‘nautical themed spectacular‘. Yesterday’s opening attracted a huge crowd (enough to break the air con!) who were treated to El Famoso hand-illustrating a large scale seaside attraction, music by skiffle band The Severed Limb and the applying of nautical tattoos!
Featuring new work from Zombie alongside other talent including Anthony Peters, Calm & Collected, Alan Dalby, and Nick Hayes, the collection of limited edition prints, cards and all sorts of sea-faring paraphernalia are available for under £150.00. There’s also a selection of water inspired workshops with Zombie Collective for budding artists every weekend of the residency. Details can be found here.
ZOMBIE is a collective of five graphic artists and illustrators: Joely Brammer, Rebecca Jay, Alice Lickens, Maggie Li and Frann Preston-Gannon who came together in 2010 during their final year at Kingston University. Since then they’ve gone from strength to strength, with clients including Tate Britain, Design Museum, House of Illustration and Ministry.
The Zombie Collective’s ‘Fathom’s Deep’ runs from 17 May – 3 June at the Hayward Gallery, Belvedere Road, London SE1.
